Accessibility

People reach this site in bad circumstances — often on a phone, often in a hurry, sometimes in the dark with the power out. It should work for everyone in that moment, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or voice control.
What we aim for
Coastal Restoration builds this site toWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2at Level AA.
What is already in place
- Keyboard access. Everything interactive can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and the focus indicator is always visible — it is never removed for appearance.
- Contrast. Body text meets or exceeds 4.5:1 against its background. Some brand colours were deliberately darkened for text use because the original values did not pass.
- Touch targets. Buttons and controls are at least 48 pixels tall, with spacing between adjacent targets.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label — never a placeholder standing in for one. Errors appear next to the field they belong to, are announced to screen readers, and are also collected in a summary at the top of the form that takes focus when a submission fails.
- Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animation is switched off. Nothing on the site flashes or moves indefinitely.
- Zoom. The page can be zoomed and reflows down to a narrow screen without horizontal scrolling. Pinch-zoom is never disabled.
- Structure. Headings are properly ordered, landmarks are marked up, and a skip link goes straight to the main content.
- Images. Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text. Decorative graphics and icons are hidden from assistive technology so they are not read aloud.
What we have not done yet
Being straight about this matters more than a clean-sounding claim:
- No independent third-party audit has been carried out.The measures above were built in during development and verified in testing, but they have not been certified by an outside auditor.
- Not every assistive technology has been tested. We have not verified behaviour across every screen reader, browser and operating system combination.
- Some third-party components — the spam protection and the address suggestion field on our form — are supplied by Google, and we do not control their accessibility. The form works without them: every field can be typed into directly, and the form submits without using address suggestions.
